NIELIT

NIELIT is a joint Scheme of the Ministry of Information Technology (Department of Electronics) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body for the development of technical education, including computer education, in the country. The Scheme is administered by the NIELIT, an autonomous body of the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India. The Society is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT),(erstwhile NIELIT Society), an Autonomous Scientific Society under the administrative control of Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics & Communications Technology (IECT). NIELIT is engaged both in Formal & Non-Formal Education in the area of IECT besides development of industry oriented quality education and training programmes in the state-of-the-art areas. NIELIT has endeavoured to establish standards to be the country’s premier institution for Examination and Certification in the field of IECT. It is also one of the National Examination Body, which accredits institutes/organizations for conducting courses in IT in the non-formal sector.

H1-B VISA TO USA AND WORKING VISA TO JAPAN FOR NIELIT QUALIFIERS

The NIELIT Graduates have been getting recognition at International level and a large no. of candidates with 'A' Level qualification, in particular, has joined overseas jobs. The NIELIT Society and CAIT (The Central Academy of Information Technology) of Japan Information Process Development Corporation (JIPDEC) has signed a MoU under which the NIELIT 'A' level qualifiers will now be considered at par with CAIT's "FE-SS". This means the 'A' Level qualifiers will be eligible for working visa in Japan and will not be required to obtain visa for entry to Japan, as required otherwise.

At present, NIELIT has thirty one (31) offices located at Agartala, Aizawl, Ajmer, Aurangabad, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Chuchuyimlang, Churachandpur, Delhi, Gangtok, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jammu, Jorhat, Kohima, Kolkata, Kokrajhar, Leh, Lucknow, Lunglei, Patna, Ranchi, Senapati, Shillong, Shimla, Silchar, Srinagar, Tezpur with its Head quarters at New Delhi. It is also well networked throughout India with the presence of about 800 institutes.

The objective of the Scheme is to generate quality manpower in the area of Information Technology (IT) at the national level, by utilizing the facilities and expertise available with the training institutions/organizations in the non-formal sector.

Under the Scheme, computer training institutions/organizations in the non-formal sector are granted accreditation for conducting specified Levels of courses, subject to their meeting well defined norms and criteria. All courses are valid for Government job & these courses are at five levels, namely:

  • BCC – Basic Level - 1
  • CCC - Basic Level - 2
  • O - Foundation Level
  • A - Level equivalent to an Advanced Diploma
  • B - Level equivalent to an MCA Degree
  • C - Level equivalent to an M.Tech Degree

Students can acquire any of these qualifications under the Scheme, if they undergo the particular Level of the NIELIT accredited course in the institutions accredited for conducting the relevant course and are declared successful the examinations conducted by the

NIELIT Society. Working professionals can also appear in the NIELIT examinations directly provided they possess the prescribed relevant experience for that particular Level. In either of the above cases, the candidates should have the requisite educational qualification as indicated in the criteria.

BCC (NIELIT Certified Course) (3 Months) (Basic Computer Course)

Introduction:
Objective of BCC: In step with effort to achieve the objective of achieving computer literacy in an inclusive manner, NIELIT has launched a new programme, “Basic Computer Course (BCC)”. The objective of the course is to impart basic level computer appreciation programme with more emphasis on hands on training. Initially, the course was conceived as to boost the concept of introducing a course on computer fundamentals, especially for students, studying vocational courses at ITIs/ITCs. However, the course has gained popularity amongst many more categories. The BCC was launched in year 2011. The programme can equip a person to use the computers in day-to-day life for professional and personal use. After completing the course the incumbent will be computer literate and will be able to:

  • Acquire confidence in using computer techniques available to users;
  • Recognise the basic components of computers and terminology;
  • Understand data, information and file management;
  • Create documents using Word processor, Spreadsheet & Presentation Software;
  • Understand computer networks, Internet;
  • Browse the internet, content search, email and collaborate with peers;
  • Use e-Governance applications;
  • Use computer to improve existing skills and learn new skills.

Eligibility: The candidates can appear in the NIELIT BCC Examination through following modes :
Candidates sponsored by NIELIT approved Institutes which are permitted to conduct BCC Course and having obtained e-provisional no. - irrespective of any educational qualifications;

CCC (NIELIT Certified Course) (9901014)Certificate Course on Computer Concepts)

Introduction: This course is designed to aim at imparting a basic level IT Literacy programme for the common man. This programme has essentially been conceived with an idea of giving an opportunity to the common man to attain computer literacy thereby contributing to increased and speedy PC penetration in different walks of life. After completing the course the incumbent should be able to the use the computer for basic purposes of preparing his personnel/business letters, viewing information on internet (the web), receiving and sending mails, preparing his business presentations, preparing small databases etc. This helps the small business communities, housewives, etc. to maintain their small accounts using the computers and enjoy in the world of Information Technology. This course is, therefore, designed to be more practical oriented.

Eligibility: The candidates can appear in the NIELIT CCC Examination through following three modes and the eligibility criteria for each mode are indicated against each:

NIELIT ‘O’ LEVEL Accr No: O1699

Introduction : 'O' level course of NIELIT Scheme is equivalent to a Foundation Level Course in Computer Applications. Students can acquire this qualification by undergoing this course and passing the examination conducted by the NIELIT Society. Working professionals can also appear in this examination directly, provided they possess the requisite educational qualification as indicated below.

Eligibility i) For students appearing through an institute: 10 + 2 or ITI Certificate ( one year) after class 10 followed in each case by an accredited 'O' Level Course.
OR
Successful completion of the second year of a Government recognized polytechnic engineering / diploma course after class 10, followed by an accredited 'O' level course concurrently during the third year of the said polytechnic engineering diploma course.

Syllabus The syllabus for 'O' level has been diversified. - three compulsory module and, - one elective modules. In the diversified syllabus, new subjects have been added as electives and certain amendments have been made to the syllabus on some of the subjects. Papers: The papers for 'O' level are as under: -

Candidates are expected to carry out a project successfully and submit certificate in the prescribed format from the head of the institute running the accredited course or the organization of which the candidate is an employee. Government Recognition

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India has recognized 'O' level examination conducted by the Computer Society of India (CSI) under the Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses(NIELIT) Scheme as equivalent to Foundation Level course for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government w.e.f 1st March 1995 vide their notification No: F 18-23/92-TD.V/TS-IVdated 1st March 1995. In view of the above notification the passed out candidates with 'O' level qualification from the NIELIT Society will henceforth be the eligible for registration in employment exchanges for job assistance.

NIELIT ‘A’ LEVEL Accr No:A0618

Introduction : 'A' level course of NIELIT Scheme is equivalent to an Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications. Students can acquire this qualification by undergoing this course and passing the examination conducted by the NIELIT Society. Working professionals can also appear in this examination directly, provided they possess the requisite educational qualification as indicated below.

Eligibility i) For students appearing through an institute Level 'O' /Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after class 10. Followed in each case, by an accredited 'A' level course (no concurrency). A Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2 / Graduate and an accredited 'A' level course in each case.
Syllabus
The syllabus for 'A' level has been diversified. It contains: - Nine compulsory module and, - One elective papers. In the diversified syllabi, new subjects have been added as electives and certain amendments have been made to the syllabus on some of the subjects. All the subjects prior to diversification have been retained on diversification of the syllabus, with the amendments mentioned above.

Project At 'A' Level there is one project. 100 marks are assigned. The project has to be submitted along with a fee of Rs 500/- and a certificate is to accompany it. A viva-voce will be conducted by an expert nominated by the NIELIT Society, as far as possible near the candidate's location.
